Trill arrived at Sunny Delight Beauty Salon and was greeted by the on-duty receptionist.

“Do you have an appointment, sir?” the receptionist asked.

“Naw, but let Sunni know that Trill is out here for her,” he said in his usual cocky demeanor.

The receptionist picked up the phone and called to the back to let Sunni know that she had a guest.

“Ummm, can you let Sunni know that a gentleman by the name of Trill who doesn’t have an appointment is demanding to see her,” the receptionist exaggerated to Sunni’s shampoo girl, who had answered the phone. Then she said, “Okay, I’ll let him know.”

She hung up the phone and turned her attention to Trill. “Her assistant said that she is swamped and won’t be able to come out here,” she said. Then the receptionist moved her attention back to the tabloid magazine she was reading before Trill had entered the salon, leaving him standing there.

He decided to sit down. He figured he would just have to wait her out. Twenty minutes went by while Trill paged through the magazines and saw a few chicks he knew come in and out; now the phones were ringing off the hook. He was amazed at how the shop’s receptionist held it under control. Once there was a pause in the phone ringing, he approached the receptionist.

“Look, miss, what’s your name?” Trill asked.

“Sissy,” she replied.

He leaned in to speak to her. “Look, I’ve been waiting patiently for Sunni to come out here. I don’t have much time and I need you to do me a favor,” he said as he plucked off a hundred-dollar bill. “I need you to go back there and get Sunni.” He plucked off another one and laid both bills on the counter. “Let her know that I’ve been waiting and it’s very important.”

Trill could tell by the look in her eyes that the thought of those hundred-dollar bills being hers would make her do whatever he needed her to do. She grabbed the money off the counter. “I’ma see what I can do,” she said. “Wait here.” She faded to the back out of sight.

Before long, Sunni appeared. “Trill, I can’t believe you showed up here,” she shook her head.

“I didn’t know I was supposed to come to your house,” he replied. “I need to talk to you.”

“Not now, I’m busy.”

“Look, is there someplace private where we can go talk? I don’t want everybody in our business.”

“For the record, we don’t have any business,” she said as she turned to walk away. “But we can go into my office for a minute.”

Sunni led Trill through the shop, which was packed like the welfare office. Although there was a sign that clearly read “no children allowed unless being serviced,” there was a woman with a scarf on her head and a badass little boy who was ripping the pages out of the magazines. Then there was the thick chick in a hot pink, size medium velour jogging suit. Apparently, no one had told her she needed a size XL.
